Sampling isn’t limited to just putting on a record and waiting to hear something that could be used. I like to think anything can be used as a sample. In this section I will document a few of my favorite techniques for taking samples and some of my favorite sample sources.
Above is a single coil pickup wired to a box which connects to an amp just like a guitar. The idea was that I could place it near any metallic, magnetic, or electronic source and see what type of static or feedback picks up. My favorite sources so far have been a popping toaster, a spinning turntable, and running a seltzer can against the poles.
